If you are only bringing your plate to the table, nobody will ever want to eat with you.- PromoDave
I said that while discussing how some people we know are and are not growing up with some of my brothers and knew that I needed to note that for my next blog. If you aren't accepting responsibility for your own life and always depending on others to provide for you, people will eventually tire of that and remove you from their lives. As human beings, it is inevitable that one day we will all need help but you can't ALWAYS need help; sometimes you have to struggle and fight through things and just believe throughout the entire situation that you will come out victorious. As Lupe Fiasco said, struggle is just another sign that God loves you, because on the low, struggle makes you humble. There is no greater feeling than knowing that you accomplished something through your own efforts; sometimes you just have to encourage yourself through your test and know that God isn't putting more on you then you have to the ability to handle...
The entire idea of responsibility became more apparent to me following my return to my campus last week. For the returning college students, I'm hoping that we've learned from our mistakes of previous years and are now, if we haven't already, beginning to assume control over our lives and guiding them in a positive direction. For the new college students, I want you all to know that this is the time to make your mark on your life, not just party, party, party and get wasted. Enjoy this time indeed, but know that you and no one else is responsible for your success and that you will never get this time back so why waste it? None of us know when we are leaving this earth, so let us all attempt to be remembered as persons attempting to positively change the world whether it is in a major manner or a small manner because all change can help instead of being remembered as just being wastes of space...
Instead of being victims of our circumstances, we should all strive to be victors of our surroundings. If you want to get out of that neighborhood, or come back and change it for the better, or be the next doctor, lawyer, custodian, nurse, cook, or all star athlete, take the necessary steps towards it and throw caution to the wind. It feels much better to know that you tried to achieve something, fail at it, and achieve something else, rather than never trying at all. The responsibility is yours though...
