What's good blog world? I've been seeing a lot of Facebook statuses lately that have me not only shaking my head but worried as well. It seems like every third status seems to read, "MAN I SWEAR 99% OF DUDES AIN'T THIS" or "LOW KEY....97% OF FEMALES AIN'T WORTH THAT". This bothers me because not only does it show that people are losing faith in the world around them but it also shows that this trend has a great chance to continue as well. My FaceBook status concerning this topic read, "low key...I'm tired of seeing stats saying that 99% of dudes aint this...and 97% of females aint that.....as long as you're thinking that way...you'll never meet that one percent or three percent....it's a big world out here...don't let a few bad apples prevent you from enjoying the feast the world offers," and not only do I preach it but I try to live it as well...
Whether it is in a relationship or in our friendships or even our workplace/scholarly atmospheres, we've all had experiences with other human beings that we'd rather forget. These experiences will remain with us for the rest of our lives but it is up to us as individuals to treat them as learning experiences rather than yearning to simply forget the experience. Each moment that we face in the world provides us with a chance to improve ourselves and the world around us, so why do we allow one negative experience to restrict us from living our lives to the fullest. Heartbreak, disdain, mistrust and disloyalty should be viewed as momentary lapses in our beautiful world rather than being the exception...
This is not to imply that we should go into every situation with our nose wide open and thus open to any sort of treatment. Enter each situation expecting the best, while anticipating the worst; we all struggle at times with doing the inverse. Once you begin to anticipate that a situation will be reminiscent of a previous bad experience, you are laying the foundation for a hurtful self fulfilling prophecy. If you believe that every man is a dog, or that every woman is a skeeze, you will end up subconsciously creating the atmosphere for the creation of a dog or a skeeze. Give each person a fresh start because that is what you want when you enter in a new situation. Allow a person to lose your trust rather than leaving your trust locked up in a safe. As you hold on tighter and tighter to your trust, you'll be stuck with momentary happiness instead of lifelong happiness that can only be achieved through a willingness to believe and to fight. You'll never reach your highest heights if you are scared of falling each time...
Application of this idea goes beyond relationships...Stop believing that you cannot pass a class, simply because several people attested that they could not possibly manufacture a good grade. You are your own individual and thus have your own destiny to fulfill. Listen to the warning notifications of those around you and use them as guidance points but do not let them be the only life manual that you read. As long as you have breath in your body and a new opportunity/challenge to conquer, believe in your abilities and know that nothing but the best is meant for you...
