She asked “what keeps you awake all night? You never sleep”
All I could think about was everything that kept me going through the day
Thoughts race as the hours speed past on a seemingly broken clock
Broken in the sense that all control has been lost
Moments of freedom when the sun sets are filled with thoughts of creating a better sunrise
Laying restless on top of covers, tangled up with thoughts of the struggles and successes of the day
Muddled down by thoughts of what could have been, should have been, and currently needs to be
During the day, mind is able to focus on conquering tasks at hand
But the idle mind at night that is biblically the devil’s playground
Shifts to all that we try to avoid, cannot fathom, and refuse to work with
As with any situation, there are positive and negative streets to move on
So restless thoughts are combated with work
Procrastination is perfectly executed as best effort arises as due dates approach
Most effective feelings are expressed as thoughts are open and unrestricted
Driving towards and overcoming new obstacles seems much more attainable as one enhances self faith
So as the thoughts race as the hours of the day move towards a new day
Free your mind of worry and practice positively believing that the sunlight following the darkness
Makes driving through pain a worthwhile trip
So what keeps me up at night?
The feeling that I’m always one move away from making it all right
