What's going on blog world? Two blogs ago I listed 5 inspiration points about self change and have know decided to do a series of blogs with a blog for each point. The first point that I am going to address is the power of prayer. I said that, "1. Try to pray every morning and every evening." because I believe that repetition is key towards dedication of anything and why not use something as powerful as prayer...
Throughout this summer, I have experienced more problems, disappointment, challenges and hurdles then perhaps any other season in my life and I am grateful for such. As I attempted to instill in one of my brothers, trials and tribulations only make triumph that much more appealing. The power of prayer comes in the fact that, I swear to you, each time I've truly felt like I was down and out and had the white towel in my hand, a blessing came to the rescue in several different forms. In my belief, this can be attributed to the fact that I pray regularly (even though I don't go to church regularly) and that is through the good times and the bad times. It is easy to have faith during the good times but it is a true testament to your character if you can hold on to your faith through the bad times. As human beings in an unjust, unfair world, we are going to face issues; some of us face them on a daily basis and some are blessed to not face them as often. Use prayer though to show your appreciation for the good times and to request strength in the bad times...
While my form of prayer originates from Christianity, if you are not willing to commit to that strong of an ideology yet, that is fine. You must be aware of the fact though that there is a being that is higher than you that placed you here and thus one that you owe your life to. Quoting perhaps one of the most influential Christian quotes I've ever seen, "I'd rather live life like there is a God and find out there is not one, then live my life like there isn't and find out there is." This goes much deeper then a surface level argument of just simple belief in God and Jesus Christ, but using the influence of God to establish a set of moral values to dictate your life...
The more you pray, the more you are acknowledging that you are not in complete control, the more that you are recognizing that you are connected to the world as a whole, the more the world as a whole improves. You want to live your life knowing that you did more then just look out for your self because that is not beneficial in there here and now and more importantly it is not beneficial to our future...
In closing, I hope that these words and heeded and if I haven't effectively displayed the power of prayer, I hope this at least begins some introspection towards what is really important in your life and what you as an individual can do to change it. Try prayer, He does answer whether you realize it or not. You're still here to read this right? So you still have the opportunity to take all that is for you in this world and prayer begins all of that. We all are more blessed then we realize but none of us are as blessed as we could be because we have not completely trusted God with our lives and foolishly attempt to drive ourselves. It's a rough path, let me say from experience...A life full of prayer is a life full of opportunity, admiration, respect, appreciation, strength and inspiration. And while a life without is not completely devoid of these traits, why take the risk?
