(Written Two Years Ago, Days After Losing My Childhood Friend Reggis Washington..)

From the onset, all he wanted to do was live life just like any boy.
Baseball and basketball and video games consumed his life.
He needed something to fill his heart.
Sports and games couldn’t fill the emptiness that was felt inside.

Family and friends sought to aid in providing love but it wasn’t enough
He needed something to make his life whole
School couldn’t complete his life, though he was quite successful at such
Something still eluded his grasp

When individuals lack, they normally take it on the world
But this simply wasn’t the case
Love, care, smiles, and understanding were all that composed his repertoire
Though he still needed something

Hindsight is the best sight but who’s to say that this was his sight?
Maybe he had all that he really wanted and couldn’t see what he needed?
Maybe then he wouldn’t have needed to go down that block that day?

But the old saying goes, “the sky is the limit,” with all he did, he pushed the limit.
With him gone now, he has made it where those he touched in this world
Now need something to help their hurting hearts.
They can start by knowing why

To love others unconditionally, despite one’s personal issues.
