Consistently surrounded by comments that she isn’t enough
Model, student, mother, worker, musician
She can always do better, be better in the world’s unfair eye
But she doesn’t fold under the scrutiny
With each new task, she master it with a newfound grace
Can’t allow frustration and stress to be the makeup of her face
So she smiles on
Phone full of distractions, anger, jealousy, and a small amount of potential
Snakes in the grass make it harder to understand appearances
Sisters in the struggle seek to break her down
Rather than journeying together to overcome each obstacle pound by pound
But she fights on
Doesn’t know if he wants her for what she possesses in her brain
Or does he believe that all women are simply the same
Same hairstyle, nails, jewelry, outfit, shoes, the whole 9
So confused on whether or not she’s truly meant to be the one or one of many
But she moves on
Mind weighed down by the mistakes of the past
Troubled by the issues of the present
Worried by the uncertainty of the future
But she believes anyway
Not the lies she is told by man, the media, or multiple professors
But in herself, her faith, her goals
Modern Woman: Wonderfully constructed, completely tested, broken down, yearning for better, no longer accepting mediocrity, and still managing to make it
