What's goodie blog world? Every year around this time obviously, people set a lot of New Year's resolutions and as a lot of my friends on Facebook and Twitter clearly agree, these resolutions are unrealistic and will never be met. People are not able to meet these resolutions because they set them for as years for the goals and simply continue to push them off until another year comes around....and then end up right back at the same point. New Year's Resolutions should be retooled into being new day, new hour, new minute, new situation and new opportunity resolutions because that will allow us to stay focused on these goals, achieve these goals, and enhance ourselves. The New Year does not have to come around to decide to make a change, because a new day, yet alone a new day is not always afforded to us....
Not only does the idea of the timing of a New Years resolution need to be retooled, but the actual resolutions themselves. "I'm going to be a better person." or "I'm going to stop being a bitch." or "I'm going to continue to just do me" are a lot of the quote unquote resolutions that I've been seeing and these are not only self defeating but unproductive as well. Here are a couple suggestions on more realistic and easier and beneficial resolutions/changes to make.
Not cursing out every person that makes you mad: it goes further than saving that person embarrassment but it also frees yourself from unnecessary stress and strain. He who angers you, owns you so remain in control of yourself, your feelings and emotions.
Not going to each and every party and studying for that test you need to: Not only do you get some well deserved rest and relaxation but you're preparing yourself for one of the primary reasons why you are in school; academic success.
Not waiting to give your life over to the Lord: you really never know when your last moment will be called. I'm not saying you have to start going to church every single Sunday but most importantly, you want to start a personal relationship with God.
Start smiling even in the midst of the storm: There is nothing like feeling confident in yourself overcoming when all is falling down around you. That is the first step in picking everything up; remember that you once had it and all and can have it all again.
Start spreading a positive word to those around you. You never know what a simple pat on the back or smile or compliment or kind word can do for someone. You'd always rather be the one that helped someone reach the top rather than the one that pushed them over the edge. And that's how you ensure you have people around you that want to see you reach the top.
Start fighting for what you want. We normally set resolutions that we will reach the top but don't want to take the first step in climbing the mountain. Start stepping out on faith and belief and confidence
Start realizing that until the clock runs out, you have an opportunity to make the big shot; but also realize that the clock does run out sometimes, so savor each second.
Start knowing that I support you in all you do and want to see you do your best. Please believe that.

Family Ties
What's goodie blog world? I really wanted to do this blog on family as sort of a memorial to Mrs. Minnie Lee Williams, a woman who was like my third grandmother and unfortunately passed away this past week. Losing her was quite rough and having a scare within my own biological family last night really pushed me into writing this. The pastor at the burial told us that if there's one thing we should be able to depend on in this world, it's our family and that's so true. So often we get caught up in expectations and desires and judgement, that we forget that these are the people that we should be able to depend on the most and vice versa....More importantly, Mrs. Williams (GMa Minnie Lee) helped me learn that our family extends way beyond those connected by blood but rather those connected by interactions...
Funerals serve a great purpose of reuniting families in celebration of a fallen member but they shouldn't be the only time that we enjoy spending time with one another. While it's quite important that we spread our wings and make ourselves succesful, there is nothing like sharing that success with those that were there prior to your success. You'll never achieve all that you can in this world if you forgot how hard the climb up was. If you forgot how hard it was to make it to the top, you make it that much easier to fall back down. Work on strengthening your support system because I guarantee no matter how you look at it, someone helped you in finding your way. Build your connections with these people with a strong background in Jesus Christ so that your support system is supported by the strongest of us all. GMa Minnie Lee helped me see that people can help you in finding your way in much more ways than just financial assistance and that all efforts must be noted and appreciated while you still can...
She helped show me and all that she influenced that small efforts can go the greatest distance. Speak a kind word to someone when you notice they are down or when you see that they are up top. We all can constantly improve and can always use inspiration. Those kind words will reappear in your life because it is quite hard to live negatively when you are spreading positive wishes and inspiration. You want to create a world around yourself with the type of inspiration that you can use and passing that inspiration on to others is the best way of doing such. Never did I visit her home and not get a kind word or an uplifitng word. It's no doubt that those words have paid dividends in my own maturation. Further than her kind words, she also helped me see that we all must identify, accept, and develop our roles in this world...
We all are not meant to be the superstar players, the doctors, the lawyers, the teachers or the CEOs but we all play equally important roles in keeping this world moving and it's only when all of these roles are respected that we reach our full potential as a society. There cannot be superstar players unless there are role players who are willing to do the less appreciated work such as rebounding, stealing bases, blocking, and protecting. There cannot be teachers without students willing to learn. There cannot be CEOs without employees willing to grind each and every day. There cannot be doctors without nurses and patients. There cannot be lawyers without those who need defending and those who need proper representation. She provided us with a safe haven which was as important as our parents taking us home and us actually going to school. She didn't have to do it which is perhaps the most respected aspect of her life...
While all of our efforts to keep the world balanaced need to be respected, individuals that realize that these actions are simply their duty and not a sort of requirement for social acceptance. Those that constantly seek the approval of those around them are those who never truly achieve it, while those who constantly work towards improving those around them are those who are the most accepted of them all. Let those around you know that you appreciate all that they do, so that we can tie this society into a close knit family....

Food For Your Soul
What's going on blog world? I had been kind of hit by writer's block and even thinker's block but I received help from input by one of my friends as she discussed her love for food lol. I want to take that love for food to another level to discuss what we are feeding ourselves mentally and physically and how that is affecting our growth. Everything we take in on daily basis has a strong effect on how we live, who we are, and what we do?...So what are you eating?
Now while I know I am not the healthiest eater because I love my sweet baby ray's, my chicken patties, chicken wings, burgers, cookies and so forth and so forth, it's still possible to potentially balance that out with some exercise and some minimal healthy additions. Walking to class helps with that, working out in the gym a couple times a week helps with that, drinking water instead of pop at some meals helps with that, just make some small changes. But if I do have to die over food, I want it to be for the food I already listed haha...These minimal changes go beyond just what we eat though, but to what we say, listen to, and get influenced by....
I've really started to notice that lately I've become more of a Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane fan than I perhaps ever wanted to but this is a perfect example of knowing what we are taking in and how to properply analyze. Many try to blame hip hop for the ills of tihs world but the blame belongs on how people understand it. We have to realize that with most of these rappers, they are simply telling the story of the lives they have lived and may still be living. That is why I've come to respect Waka and Gucci and Wayne and SouljaBoyTellEm because they rap about topics that they actually live and why I hate Plies as an artist because he's created an image that many claim he has no actual experience with. If that's not who you are, then don't try to sell that to people....Back to my original purpose though because rap music and really music of all genres can be beneficial to people as long as they are taken in the proper portion and understood. They say that parents shouldn't allow their children to listen to this type of music but it's really more important that the parents don't allow their children to listen to this music without proper guidance, just as they shouldn't allow them to see R-Rated movies without aiding them in their understanding. Influences such as music should be taken in proper does with a good hint of understanding...
Not oonly do you need to make sure that you understand the music you are listening to and the purpose of it, make sure that you are understanding the purpose of the individuals in your life. If your life is filled with people that lack progression and represent your old intentions and goals, you will never reach the highest height that you can. You have to have people around you or at least look at the examples of people that have done more than you, been through worse than you, and achieved the highest heights to sort of develop your own road map in this life. Many say that once you achieve a certain level of success, you must cut ties with those beneath you but that couldn't be further from the truth. You just need to readjust your standing with them. Just as you needed a role model to progress, you never know what type of positive effect you can have on those around you. But cutting them off prevents all of that from happening....
Learn to take all of the influencing forces in your life, positive and negative, with a grain of salt and a pound of knowledge, to continue to develop yourself as a person. Because you should never stop improving in this life until you stop living...
Hope that this proved to be good food for your soul....
