Prayer doesn’t immediately change things
Similar to how studying doesn’t immediately translate to good grades
You have to be tested to see results
Intense challenges create immaculate concepts and creative ideas
Vehicles perform best when accelerated and human beings respond in the same respect
Don’t celebrate how you respond in the sunshine
Instead improve how you keep your light shining in the darkest of clouds with the rain pouring down
Take pride in being blessed with burdens
The heavier load to carry, the strong individual that develops
Everyone receives problems; scholars and soldiers stand tall in front of them
Failure doesn’t frustrate or fluster, instead it allows refreshing success to flourish
Sunshine wouldn’t feel good if it wasn’t for rain
And pride in success wouldn’t warm a heart unless the heart had once been broken down by fortitude creating fears
Don’t afraid of telling your story, the details are exclusive to you and help mold you greatly
Judgment comes from souls with hidden issues looking to throw dirt on others to avoid their own growing grave
Those that cast stones have strong arms from all the stress that they carry
Travel through this world lightly, you came into it with nothing and leave with the same with a sprinkle of experiences
Whatever doesn’t kill you only provides you with a new sense of life
Sensible souls seek to solidify themselves in this world, not based on success or stress
But rather on preservation and perseverance
Don’t measure your life in the results of the tests in your life
Be satisfied in showing up and showing out each time a challenge is placed in front of you
Grow in your efforts and know that failing is only final if you surrender to it
Realize that results require recognition of effort and dedication and life is based on heartfelt attempts
Be open to change while remaining firm in your beliefs in the process....don't let your goals change your soul....

Test results only have numerical values
Pass or fail, growing from your experiences is the best measurement of whether or not you’ve done well

Black Souls Lost

Are you living to die? Enjoying life and living it to the fullest? Or are you just maintaining?
In a world where the value of life has shifted beneath a bag of skittles and a Arizona
It’s hot enough to make black minds forget about the inequality that exists in Arizona
Where Martin Luther King Jr’s day was rescinded, how can we feel like our dreams hold the same value?
Will we ever reach that day where Martin can look down from the mountain top and see a world where the law doesn’t see color but instead see souls?

Black Souls Lost

Nas enlightened our eyes to “Black Girls Lost” nearly twenty years ago
And we’re still trying to figure out how to find them
Black Girls Lost, Black Boys Lost
Lives devalued or eliminated with no second thought
Much more than death, our black children are lost all throughout the world
Lost in a prison system: One that sees them as a number and trading tool in the new age slavery
Lost in a school system: One that pushes them away from dreams and towards debt quite easily
Lost in the field of entertainment: One that stereotypes and highlights ills rather than portraying the real
Lost in the workforce: One that would rather hire a name they recognize than a name of potential strength
Lost in maternity and paternity histories: Ones that highlight absentee fathers and negligent mothers rather than the Cliff’s and Claire’s

Black Souls Lost

But it’s not hopeless to find them, it’ll come at an extreme cost
It’s impossible to find someone that doesn’t want to be found
So from a small child, it must be instilled in their mind that their power comes from being brown
And not the other way around that society would love to preach up and down instead
It’s pushed that being brown means you’re powerless, meaningless, useless
A lawless land doesn’t protect or serve the individuals that helped build and create it from the ground up
You know what happens to a dream deferred?
We’ve move beyond just drying up like a raisin in the sun
To not seeing our sons when the sun rises, and our daughters not having anyone that cares when they let out their most sincere cries
When life expectancies become so low that we can write our wills at 18, what’s the purpose of fighting?

Black Souls Lost

We much show respect to our lost souls by loving and creating kinetic energy that spreads through our future
Can’t find something that doesn’t want to be discovered so I’m praying for our young sisters and brothers
Praying for their eyes to be opened to all that’s in front of them
We can’t all be destined to create music, dribble on the court, or dazzle on the big screen
But we can’t settle for creating chaos, driving to and from the courts and jails and daydreaming rather than succeeding
Follow your dreams; the best way to lower the amount of black souls lost is have more black souls at the top
Make your efforts show that you’re dying to live, enjoying life to the fullest and more than maintaining

Welcome back beautiful, I hear you’ve been going through something
Navigating through life, trying to live and maintain and keep your head up

Be quicker to help than you are to judge so as to not block your own blessing
Beauty is more than skin deep
Feed your soul with the same frantic nature that you fill your pockets or apply your make up

If the beautiful women of this world complimented each other more, rather than trying to make sure accessories complemented outfits to outdo the next
The world would be full of less stress
A smart man once said that a happy woman leads to a happy home

Your body is a temple; treat it as such as you watch all forces that enter
Negative vices and voices can break you down the same
Watch hateful friends that are only around you for your name

Hurt People

Hurt people hurt people

The number one claim of those afraid of love is that they just aren’t ready

But when will you ever be ready?

Hearts heal faster with concentrated effort and dedicated time

No pressure to seek love but no pride given to the rejection of love

The heart knows what it wants, your mind just doesn’t know when to listen at times

But your mind still helps, when your heart isn’t healing well with time

When situations end, people find themselves looking for who to blame and fighting issues with their own self appreciation

Wondering what they did wrong, why is it so hard for them to find love?

The blame falls in the situation, not directly on either party

If your spouse cheated, that shouldn’t lead to thoughts of what you did wrong

Just simply acceptance of another’s struggles with responsibility should be enough for you to move on

You’ve got to let that hurt go and simply grow from the lessons

Each closed door is not the end and even in stress can be found a blessing

You’ve got to let that hurt go before you try to pick up love

Balancing acts only needed to misguided decisions and imbalanced emotions

Too much hate in your heart can consume you and assume the position of the real you

While you blindly walk through the world, wondering what has become of you?

Don’t make the next suffer from the ill behavior of the previous

But don’t move on so quickly to run from your past

That hurt will follow you like a snowball on a mountain and grow into an avalanche if unattended

Small problems can become all of your problems if you leave them unaddressed

Note the problem, accept the problem, fix the problem, remove the problem

All steps necessary for proper growth and in that order

You can’t fix the problem without accepting the problem, and you haven’t fixed the problem fully until you’ve removed the problem

If hate in your heart is your biggest problem, there’s a simple solution: Love

Love yourself, love the world, love your work, love your family, love someone, love Love

Hurt people hurt people and remain stuck in the cycle

Spin out of hurt and give love another chance

Sinking Ceilings

When it all can fall down, it all seems to
When you’re at your lowest point, that’s when you seem to fall deeper too
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger right, so why can stress nearly take our lives?
It’s because we live too much on the edge, tilting between realistic behavior and foolish pride
On the road of life, we navigate through road blocks of all varieties of sizes
And truly break ourselves down by what we let get inside
Of us, throughout the daily motions, we have to choose our proper influences
For if we keep the wrong around us, the negative will get in
Similar to building a home with a solid foundation but a sinking ceiling
Doesn’t matter how strong our heart is, if we don’t take time in the consideration of our feelings
Such as our thoughts, shall be our lives, so think peace and hope shall spring eternal
But allow an evil belief or being to enter your presence and a steady decline shall occur
Like attempting to fix a leak ceiling with a few buckets instead of relaying the entire surface
When we push problems to the back instead of addressing them, they’ll pick the wrong time to surface
When it all can fall down, it all seems to
But not if you’re prepared to pick yourself back up and continue on
You’ve done this before, mastering one issue after another, so what’s holding you back now?
Nothing should be able to hold you back as long as you are there to hold yourself up
When it comes to your success, sinking should never be an option, as there’s no ceiling for your growth

The Motions

What’s there to do when the one you want, no longer wants to work with you towards unity?
No matter how complete the parts are, one broken piece disturbs the composition
That’s just the up and down motions
One moment together, the next apart, we can never truly be certain of the desires of another’s heart
Forever together, temporarily separated, substantial separation or somewhere caught in the middle
Is it worth it? Or will things never change?
Will they still be there when you come back? Will you still want them when they get themselves together?
Free yourself before you constraint yourself with another individual
How can you reach the sky with another when your mind is still grounded?
Can you see the sunshine if you let stress hold your head down?
Shake it off, begin a new motion
Clouded mind opened by new ambitions and free with no inhibitions
Opportunities come to those that wait but are used by those with deeper intuition
Thoughts based on future gain eliminate those shattered by previous pain
New ambitions from the clouded mind are always gained following a full rain
Embrace carrying a heavy load, makes dealing with the light an easier task
Life is unfair, only promised a birth and a death
But the more negative you take on, there is an abundance of positive for the rest
Keep going through the motions
Only stop for breaths, scenery, thoughts, and reflection
And keep it moving as you master your next life lesson

Exceeding Offers

Standing at the top of the mountain top, the crowd around you is full and plentiful
But who was there pushing you to keep climbing when your strength was low?
Everyone wants you when you’re in the position of power
But when stripped of that, all you truly have is those with your best interest at hand
Friends? How many of us can say we really have them?
Not friends that only call when it’s celebration time or when your cup runneth over
But true friends that call 6 months after your loved one’s funeral
After the flowers stop coming, the visits slow down and the phone notifications become silent
Who’s still standing there besides you?
This is by no means a call to say that friends are necessary
It’s just necessary to not unnecessarily pass titles on to the undeserving leeches
Don’t look for 50/50 in all friendships
You gain more from helping those that need it and appreciate it and give you what they can
Than giving to those that just take and take
People get so satisfied with being on the scene that they overlook the world in front of them
Don’t waste time attempting to correct vision, just get out of sight
And keep those in your view that enhance futures instead of ensuring failure
Be realistic in expectations for friendships;
Don’t be afraid to take more than you give, because a true friend gives with no hesitation
But offer a true bond in return, rather than a materialistic connection founded in false features
In the same light, don’t give endlessly to a momentary acquaintance
For people will take as much as you will give
Be wary of those that willingly accept handouts
But never deny a fair shake to a hand that’s out
Look for receiving what you’re willing to give out, but don’t look past an opportunity to complete a good deed
The world is in need of an infusion of inspirational interactions
And an elimination of experts at exposing exceptional people for their kindness
